Current state of local legislation in the sphere of local self-government and ways of its reforming on the basis of decentralization and deconcentration of authorities were discussed during the meeting.
D.Zhvaniya stressed that unconditional implementation of norms and principles of the European Charter of Local Self-Government should be the main orienting point in the law-making activity. According to the Committee Chairman, it should apply not only to the sphere of local self-government but also to all branches of domestic legislation, codes and laws that are at the bottom of its activity.
The Parties drew special attention to the necessity of broad consideration of best European practices in this sphere.
